Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics position at a Level I Trauma facility, requiring strong ortho experience including total joint replacement.

Details

• Work in a 22-bed Med/Surg Orthopedics unit (7NE) within an acute care, Level I Trauma hospital setting
• Patient population includes orthopedic cases such as joint replacements and fractures
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, with 3 CNAs per shift
• Telemetry monitoring present on the unit; RNs are not required to read strips
• Charge Nurse coverage available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy and equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow) available as needed
• Epic EMR used on this unit
• 12-hour day shifts: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every-other-weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Floating may be required to units 7E, 7W, 10W, or 10E
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong orthopedic nursing experience required, including total joint replacement (not fractures alone)
• BSN not required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be requested via an exemption form

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit orientation consists of 1–2 shifts on the unit
• Travelers are expected to participate in the holiday rotation
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Any previous employment at a WVU Medicine location requires a 2-year break before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before returning
