Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of high-risk L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and the ability to circulate and provide full newborn care.
Details
- High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms and an average daily census of 15, averaging 500–600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, patients supported through Adult Recovery Services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Unit has 4 ORs and follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Commonly administered medications include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Electronic fetal monitoring is used (Epic hard stop requirement)
- EMR: Epic (required)
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating required to Postpartum and Antepartum units, and may include float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Minimum 3–5 years of L&D experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment required; 5 years of high-risk experience strongly preferred
- High-risk L&D experience is required
- Must be able to circulate in the OR
- Must be proficient in newborn care, including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K (thigh) injections, and newborn assessments
- Must be able to function in the role of baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care through transfer to postpartum
- Epic EMR experience required
- Electronic fetal monitoring experience required
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty and setting required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Active professional license required at time of consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff of any non-Swedish Providence facility must have been separated for at least 3 months before being eligible for a travel contract
- Former Swedish facility permanent staff are not eligible for this contract
- Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- RTO is considered on a case-by-case basis; minimal RTO is preferred and excessive requests may impact the process
- Candidates must pass a clinical review prior to placement
