Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology Infusion RN with chemo certification and at least 1 year of specialty experience for a 13-week travel assignment requiring float coverage across multiple hospital campuses.

Details

  • Work in an Oncology Chemo Certified unit within an acute care hospital setting
  • Provide oncology infusion nursing care including inpatient and outpatient oncology and infusion center settings
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No weekend requirement
  • No on-call requirement
  • Float required between three hospital campuses within the health system
  • Uses Epic/Excellian charting system

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) required
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology/chemo specialty experience required
  • 2 years of RN experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Prior travel nurse experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, central line care, and PICC line care
  • Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and managing related side effects and oncologic emergencies
  • Knowledge of care for various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
  • Competency in neutropenic precautions, isolation/PPE protocols, and phlebotomy
  • At least 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
  • Date of birth, SSN, and copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level III Trauma status
  • Deliver direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and monitoring for treatment side effects
  • Responsible for recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis and extravasation injury
  • Administer medications including antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, and hormonal therapies
  • Scrub color required is navy blue
  • Candidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be considered, as locals are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates must be gone at least 3 months from their last shift if previously employed as staff or per diem with this health system
  • Ideally no more than 5 days of requested RTO during the assignment
  • Open to accommodating block scheduling
