Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and IV start skills, with night shift availability and every-other-weekend commitment.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule: 7p–7a (3x12-hour shifts)
• Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Floating is not required, though rare assignments as a sitter or monitor tech are possible
• EMR/systems used: Meditech (documentation), Omnicell (medication), and SBAR (communication)

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license (may be pending at time of consideration)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• IV start skills required
• Travel nursing experience is not required

Additional Information

• Navy scrubs required
• Orientation consists of weekly orientation sessions plus one day of on-site training with a unit educator
• Approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules are required and must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
• Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references are required prior to start
• Former permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
• Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
• Travel pairs are welcome; each must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially differing schedules
• Contract extensions beyond 13 weeks are possible; indicate preference for 36 or 48 hours per week when applying
