Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a CVICU position in Houston, TX, requiring a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience and proficiency in caring for intubated patients and vasoactive medication management.
Details
- Located on the 2nd floor CVICU of a hospital in Houston, TX
- 12-bed cardiovascular ICU unit
- Night shift schedule: 7p–7a
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 care provided based on patient acuity
- Patient population includes post-open-heart surgery recovery and high-acuity cardiovascular cases
- Procedures performed include intubation, extubation, bedside bronchoscopy, and bedside line insertion
- Equipment used includes Impella, IABP, PrisMax, ECMO, Alaris IV pumps, Edwards HemoSphere, and ventilators
- EMR system: Meditech
- Float requirement to MICU and CVIMU
- Every other weekend required; no on-call responsibilities
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start)
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for CVICU RNs
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge of caring for intubated patients required
- Demonstrated knowledge of titrating vasoactive medications required
- CV ICU background preferred
- Experience caring for device-dependent patients preferred (Impella, IABP, ECMO, etc.)
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible for this position
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 6–8 nurses, and 1 unit secretary; night shift includes 1 charge nurse and 6–8 nurses
- Team player attitude and collaborative approach expected
- Candidates with CV ICU backgrounds will be given priority consideration
