Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, ACLS, and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • ICU setting within an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
  • 33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adult patients
  • Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand used with tele tech oversight
  • Patients may require respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
  • EMR: Epic
  • 12-hour day shifts, 0630–1830
  • Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
  • Floating may be required to PCU (1:4 ratio) or occasionally Med/Surg (1:5 ratio)
  • Minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract period are required
  • If placed on call and called back in, a 30-minute response time to the facility is required
  • Nurse aide support available based on census; Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days/week (M–F, 0800–1630)

Requirements

  • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
  • Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered)
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
  • BSN not required

Additional Information

  • 1-shift unit/department-specific orientation provided
  • RNs must pass an open-book skills exam (minimum score of 90%) administered on Wednesdays during orientation; failure to pass results in contract termination
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
  • Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added into the schedule and block scheduling is not guaranteed
  • RTO must be requested upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and additional RTO requests after submission will not be considered
