Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step-Down/PCU position at a large academic Level I Trauma center, requiring telemetry, vent, and trach management experience along with a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Step-down/PCU unit in a large short-term acute care academic and Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient ratios of 1:2–3 across all shifts
- Patient population includes telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, trach care, and pulmonary rehab cases
- Specialized procedures include phlebotomy, vent management alongside respiratory therapy, ABG draws (preferred), trach management, port access, and central line care
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract with the option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within service line required, including to MS units
Requirements
- Valid MO state RN license or compact RN license required; pending IL license acceptable for IL-based applicants
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of PCU/step-down experience required
- Telemetry experience required, including EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management (Relias EKG exam must be passed)
- Ventilator management experience required, including long-term vent, weaning, and pulmonary rehab
- IV start and trach management experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy scrubs required
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to 18 months continuously; a 3-month break is required after 18 months
- Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
- Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not accepted
