Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, including telemetry and PCU/step-down experience, with night shift availability.

Details

  • Cardiac Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes Congestive Heart Failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac cath cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:6–7
  • Specialized procedures include cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.), sheath pulls, TR Bands, and Femstop
  • Remote cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation performed on unit
  • EMR: Epic (documentation); Pyxis (medication); SBAR (communication)
  • 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15), 36 hours per week
  • Self-scheduling per unit needs
  • Every other weekend required (approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per contract)
  • Floating required as needed — potential to float every shift
  • Contract lengths of 13 to 26 weeks

Requirements

  • Active NC RN license or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Step-down experience required
  • Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and remote monitoring required
  • Pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal experience required
  • Experience with port access, blood product administration, central line/care management, and PICC line management required
  • Experience titrating cardiac drips, including Diltiazem and Amiodarone, required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor are required prior to start

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different rate
  • Must pass an EKG competency test prior to start
  • A nurse manager interview is required prior to offer finalization
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours; weekly orientation cadence
  • Pre-start modules (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed before the assignment begins and renewed annually
  • Navy scrubs required; not provided by the facility
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval, and excessive call-offs or RTO may result in contract cancellation
  • Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • Previous permanent, PRN, or agency employees of this health system must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are permitted; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules

My phone showed her number as spam and I think blocked some of the texts I wish it hadn't have done that but that was nothing on her end all on mine so make sure that you have your settings to allow the calls and texts from spam
