Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in an ambulatory outpatient surgery setting, requiring advanced GI experience and procedural sedation competency.
Details
- Ambulatory (Outpatient) Surgery unit specializing in GI procedures
- GI team covers procedures performed in Outpatient Surgery, the Main OR, the Emergency Department, and Critical Care areas
- Common procedures include screening colonoscopies, EGDs, interventional EGDs and colonoscopies, motility studies, Bravo EGDs, ERCPs, and EUS's
- Averages approximately 7 procedures per day
- Day shift with 10-hour shifts starting at 0700
- Schedule is 4x10s; day off depends on case volume
- First to float; GI staff floats to the Main OR
- Weeknight call requirement: 1700–0700
- Weekend and holiday call consists of two shifts per 30-day schedule: two 24-hour call shifts (0700–0700) and one 12-hour call shift (0700)
- EMR: Cerner
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Advanced GI nursing experience required, including the full range of procedures listed in the job details
- Procedural sedation experience required
- A driver's license must be provided for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked (must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire)
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) before an offer can be confirmed
- A pass/fail skills test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Charge nurse coverage is available on the unit
- Hospitalist/intensivist, IV team, and RT services are available in-house 24/7
- Orientation is 12 hours, which includes a procedural sedation course
- A manager interview is required as part of the selection process
- Local candidates are accepted
