Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of Adult Critical Care and NICU experience for a night shift travel assignment at a short-term acute care teaching hospital in Maryland.
Details
- Short-term acute care teaching hospital and Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH) member with 338 staffed beds
- Float requirement between Adult and NICU units
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage expected
- No on-call requirement
- Charting in Cerner (experience preferred)
- Specialized ventilator equipment includes Draeger V500, Draeger VN500, and Servo U
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RRT in both Adult Critical Care and NICU settings
- At least 1 prior completed travel assignment required
- Active MD state licensure required if applicable
- Required certifications: BLS, CRT
- Proficiency with airway management including endotracheal intubation/suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with inhaled medications (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, Xopenex) and delivery devices (nebulizer, MDI, aerosol mask/trach, HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP)
- Experience with mechanical ventilation including troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning protocols
- Ability to assist in high-risk deliveries and perform umbilical blood gas collection
- ACLS preferred
- ED experience preferred
- Preferred skills: Bronchoscopy, Inhaled Flolan, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Theophylline, Bicarbonate, Ketamine, Mucomyst
- 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, ABG interpretation, and management of advanced airway devices
- Flu vaccine is required for all staff at this facility
- Scrubs are not provided; ceil blue scrub color is required
- Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

I do not have anything negative other than you need to fight with sone to all9w you gain some admission, emergency and critical patient stabilisation experience since they invade such patients which may leave you hanging while the resuscitation happens.
