Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 2 years of experience, EKG proficiency, and night shift availability.
Details
- Hospital Med/Surg Tele unit setting
- Medical/surgical patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:6-7
- Night shift only, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to similar units is expected approximately once per week
- Uses Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and SBAR for communication
- Heparin drips (gtts) administered on this unit
- 13–26 week contracts accepted
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration)
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Med/Surg experience required
- Proficiency with Heparin and Insulin administration required
- Must pass an EKG test for this specialty
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start
Additional Information
- 24-hour unit orientation provided, with weekly orientation schedule
- 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required for this acute care role
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No time off (RTO) is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation; RTO up to 7 days may be approved if it does not fall on a holiday
- Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Unit consolidation to a centralized office may occur mid-contract, with staff reassigned to units as needed
- Candidates who have previously worked for Novant Health or New Hanover as permanent, PRN, or EP staff must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Travel pairs are welcome, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- Candidates located within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a different pay rate
- Navy scrubs required
