Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab / EP Technologist for an acute care Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and experience with advanced cardiac procedures including TAVR, Watchman, and Impella.

- Works in a 6-room cardiac cath lab at an acute care Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital with ACC accreditation for PCI procedures
- Adult patient population with a daily census of 15–20 patients
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and ASD/PFO closures
- Advanced procedures performed include TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, CardioMEMS, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, and research protocols
- Equipment used includes IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Schedule consists of 4x10-hour shifts (7:30 AM–6:00 PM) and 1x8-hour shift (7:30 AM–4:00 PM) per week, plus call
- Each clinician is expected to take 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts per 6-week period, including one full weekend of call (Fri–Sun) and one Saturday elective case shift
- Remaining weekday call shifts (Mon–Thu) can be distributed individually throughout the 6-week cycle
- Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called back
- Holiday call participation is required once per 13-week contract on a rotating basis with staff
Requirements
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- ARRT(R) or CCI RCIS required; Virginia state license preferred for ARRT(R) holders — any active state license (in hand or pending) is accepted, as Virginia grants emergency authorization while a permanent VA license is processing; no state license required for CCI RCIS holders
- License required if applicable
- Minimum experience required in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
- Proficiency with cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and MitraClip
- Skills in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Two professional references required for consideration

- Perform diagnostic and interventional procedures in a nationally recognized cath lab supported by a multidisciplinary team with adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
- The facility is a certified stroke center and continues to expand its cardiovascular services with innovative technology for complex heart conditions
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles from the facility are eligible for one 13-week contract
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
