Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Burn Med/Surg position at a Magnet-designated Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a WA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.
Details
- 15-room, 26-bed Burn Med/Surg unit with an average daily census of 22 patients
- Patient population includes adult burn, plastic surgery, and pediatric trauma and burn patients
- Patient ratios are 3-4:1 on day shift and 4-5:1 on nights
- Special procedures include anesthesia-assisted wound care (nitrous oxide available), EtCO2 monitoring, and wound care performed in two tank rooms and a dedicated bath room
- A wound care RN assists the primary RN in tank rooms during 8-hour day shifts (0700–1530)
- Charting is performed in Epic (hard stop)
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (0700–1930)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Travelers are first to float to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand (pending licensure not accepted)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 1–2 years preferred
- At least 2 travel assignments beyond an initial hospital placement preferred
- Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required
- COVID vaccination and booster required, no exceptions
- Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with 500 staffed beds
- Blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should otherwise be kept to a minimum
- Former UW Health staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
- On-site parking is available at a daily cost; an off-site parking garage ($10/day) is located approximately 1 mile away with weekday shuttle service (5 AM–10 PM, Monday–Friday only)
