Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a SICU position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
• 12-bed Surgical ICU (SICU) unit within a large, Joint Commission-accredited 595-bed hospital
• Patient population includes neuro and surgical intensive care cases
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• ICU equipment in use includes ventilators, arterial lines, and central venous lines (CVLs)
• EMR: Cerner
• Every other weekend required
• Float coverage required as needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license, in hand and free of any encumbrances or hits
• Current AHA-issued certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Current AHA-issued NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Neuro ICU experience preferred

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position — no local candidates will be considered
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA); American Red Cross certifications are not accepted
• Navy scrubs are required; scrubs are mandatory
• SSN and DOB will be required for consideration
• The facility is a comprehensive academic medical center recognized for excellence in stroke care, cardiovascular services, surgical care, neurological care, and more
• Primary Stroke Center certified by The Joint Commission with Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement in Stroke
