Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a rehab-focused community hospital in Highlands, NC, working across acute, long-term, and outpatient care settings.

Details

• Position is based in the Rehab Services department within the main hospital building
• Clinician will work across acute/swing beds, nursing home, and outpatient services, with floating between these areas as needed
• Hospital operates 24 acute/swing beds, 40 nursing home beds, and 10 skilled nursing home beds, with 2 additional outpatient clinic locations
• Patient ratio is 1:1
• Documentation is completed in Cerner and NetHealth
• Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, 40 hours per week; final schedule to be reviewed with the rehab manager
• Treatment is provided in patient rooms, hallways, outdoor areas, and in the rehab gym
• Typical rehabilitation equipment is available, including full access to both the hospital gym and nursing home gym

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a hospital and/or nursing home setting, with at least 6 months of experience within the last 6 months in the role
• Active NC OT license required (license required if applicable)
• Current CPR/BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Experience in a medical setting is preferred, with 3+ years preferred by the facility
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include OT evaluations, establishing plans of care, assisting with rounds and care conferences, and frequent communication with the rehab team regarding patient progress, equipment needs, and discharge planning
• Rehab team consists of PT, OT, and SLP professionals in a collaborative, supportive environment
• The facility is stroke certified and is predominantly a rehab-focused hospital; the majority of acute beds are swing bed patients
• The nursing home on-site holds a 5-star rating, and two outpatient clinics support continuity of care
• A new rehab gym is planned for construction, with an outdoor gym also in design; current gym is fully equipped
• Scrubs (any color) or business casual attire are acceptable
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
