Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby position requiring LDRP experience and a full suite of OB certifications including AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and NRP.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a combined L&D, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby unit
- Unit features 4 L&D beds, 1 triage bed, 4 postpartum beds, and OR suites for C-sections, averaging approximately 220 births per year
- Common patient diagnoses include high BMI, diabetes mellitus (DM), and substance use/abuse
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin, and D10
- RNs read their own fetal monitoring strips; no telemetry/monitor techs on unit
- EFM system used is OBIX; charting via Epic (experience required)
- Bubble CPAP equipment is used on the unit
- Minimum staffing of 2–3 RNs per shift; charge nurse takes patient assignments
- No nursing aides or surgical techs on the unit; OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend (EOW) requirement; 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
- 18 hours of on-call required per 6-week period
- Travelers are first to float to the postpartum unit; may also float within Zone 1 facilities if there is an extreme need
- Rotating holiday schedule assigned at the unit level
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP nursing experience required
- Required certifications (all must be active; AHA-issued where applicable): BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and STABLE — pending certifications not accepted
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience titrating OB-related drips (Pitocin, Mag, Insulin, D10)
- Ability to independently read and interpret fetal monitoring strips
- Candidate must reside at least 60 miles from the facility; a valid driver's license is required for address verification
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Candidates must be physically present in the state for the week of orientation, even if initial orientation modules are completed remotely
- Unit orientation consists of 1–2 shifts
- Self-scheduling is used for day and night shifts, with the manager balancing the schedule if needed
- Blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible — candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are expected to secure housing within the zone they are hired into to meet float zone requirements
