Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) night shift travel assignment at a rural Critical Access Hospital in North Dakota, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and active BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.

- Acute care setting at a rural Critical Access Hospital (CAH) with limited on-site specialty services; nearest NICU is more than 1 hour away
- LDRP unit with 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes mothers in labor at 35+ weeks gestation and mom/baby couplets
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1–2 for labor, 1:2–3 for postpartum
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, and Zofran (antepartum/labor), and manage postpartum medication infusions such as Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Percocet, and Toradol
- Neonatal respiratory equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow; RNs are expected to manage these devices
- Electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) system used: OB Trace Vue
- Charting system: MEDITECH
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM block scheduling
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Holiday coverage required based on availability
- Floating may be required to Med/Surg or ED for 1:1 patient sitting
Requirements
- Active ND RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license currently in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit Health, including CHI or Dignity Health
Additional Information
- RNs circulate for the baby during C-sections; surgical team leads the procedure
- Charge nurse is present on each shift and carries a patient assignment
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts of 12 hours each
- Clinicians with facial hair must pass a fit test (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+); failure to pass or remove facial hair if needed may result in contract cancellation
- Attributes that support success in this unit include strong teamwork, independence, clinical knowledge, and effective communication
- RTO (time off) requests must be submitted upfront and are limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
