Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Direct Observation Unit (Telemetry) position at a Level I Trauma facility in Chandler, AZ, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent telemetry experience and AZ or Compact RN licensure.
Details
- 16-bed Observation Unit that functions as an extension of the Emergency Department within an acute care, Level I Trauma hospital
- Common patient diagnoses include chest pain (rule-out MI), post-heart catheterization (no sheaths), stable pre-CABG, post-IR and endoscopy procedures, and patients on non-titration Amiodarone, Cardizem, or Labetalol
- No vents, BiPAP, or CPAP patients on this unit
- Charge Nurse coverage 24/7; PCTs staffed per census for primary care
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7; Hospitalist covers call
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- 12-hour night shifts on a 13-week contract
- Every 3rd weekend requirement
- Travelers are first to float and may float to any tele/med-surg floor, including a sister facility nearby
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry or observation unit experience, with experience within the past 6 months required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; a current driver's license is required to verify permanent address
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Strong critical thinking skills required
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam prior to offer confirmation, with a maximum of 2 attempts allowed
- A pass/fail simulation lab assessment on sterile technique (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on Day 1 of orientation
- Candidates who do not pass either the dysrhythmia exam or the sim lab within the allowed attempts will be ineligible to work at CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento facilities for 6 months
- Floor-specific orientation is 2 days on the unit
- Holiday rotation with core staff is required
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past 12 months — no exceptions; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
