Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an ICU position requiring telemetry experience (PCU or greater), working night shifts at a mixed medical/surgical ICU in Manchester, NH.
Details
- Mixed medical and surgical ICU in a hospital setting
- 20-bed ICU unit located on Floor C
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratios vary based on acuity: ECMO 2:1, post open heart surgery and critical ICU/device patients 1:1, typical ICU assignment 1:2, stepdown assignments 1:3-4
- Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, Hoyer/stand lifts, Impella, IABP, CRRT (NxStage), bladder scanner, Bair Hugger, rapid transfuser, Blanketrol, chest tubes, vein finder, Sorin retransfuser (post cardiac surgery), ventilator, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP
- EMR: Sunrise (experience not specified as required)
- Every third weekend required; no on-call responsibilities
- Floating to Progressive Care unit required
Requirements
- Active NH or Compact RN license required and must be in hand prior to consideration
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for ICU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in the ICU specialty
- Telemetry experience required; PCU-level experience or higher strongly preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
- Professional reference required (two references required if candidate is from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Typical procedures include pericardiocentesis with drains, thoracentesis, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion, intubation, TEE cardioversion, TTE, and transvenous pacing wire insertion
- Unit staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 8–10 RNs, 1–3 LNAs, and a sitter PRN per shift
- Preferred candidates will have experience with critical drips, ventilators, and prior ICU experience
- An organized yet adaptable personality is the best fit for this unit
- No dress code/scrub color specified
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- No previous work history gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
