Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level III Trauma teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a 457-bed Level III Trauma teaching hospital that is also a designated Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Unit is a 14-bed private room Medical Telemetry floor (3H) transitioning to a PCU focus
- Common diagnoses include heart failure, chest pain, COPD, fluid resuscitation/blood products, cardiac cath pre/post care, and medical overflow
- Telemetry is remotely monitored by an off-unit arrhythmia center; nurses' station also has visual EKG capability
- Patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity-dependent); ratios may increase to 1:7–8 during surge
- EMR is Epic; Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, EKG machine, and transport monitor are in use
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:05 PM – 7:15 AM (1845–0715); 36 hours per week
- Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with every-other-weekend rotation
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics)
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in PIV starts, NG tube placement and management, Pleurx drains, surgical drain management, chest tube management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titratable cardiac drips, and TR bands
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Unit is professional and team-oriented, supported by CNAs (trained in phlebotomy, 12-lead EKGs, and glucometer), an IV/VAT team, charge nurses, a resource nurse (when staffing allows), and Hospitalists and Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Orientation includes facility-level NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved (excluding holidays); time may need to be added to the end of the contract to meet contracted hours
- Navy scrubs required; free parking available
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates who have held a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
