Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, Cerner proficiency, and availability for night shifts with every-other-weekend requirements.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit directly adjacent to the Emergency Department
- Patient population includes observation/clinical decision-type cases such as COVID, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and symptom-based presentations requiring further workup
- Shift: Nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Charge nurse coverage may be required based on operational needs, with training and resources provided
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA or RQI accepted) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Proficiency in starting IVs and nasal cannula required
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited university required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Indiana residents are considered local and are not eligible for this Med/Surg position
- Candidates who are current or former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- The following holiday RTO cannot be accommodated: Memorial Day weekend, Father's Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Effective 11/30/24, IN RN licenses are not eligible for this Med/Surg position (exemptions apply to Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers)
