Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a multi-area ED/ICU/MedSurg position at a 35-bed acute care facility in Spearfish, SD, requiring at least 1.5 years of experience and comfort working across all three care areas.

Details

• 35-bed acute care facility with 9 ED treatment spaces (8 beds + 1 hallway), a 4-bed ICU, and a 20-bed Med/Surg unit
• Traveler will rotate across all three care areas: ED, ICU, and Med/Surg
• Patient population includes all ages with conditions such as sepsis, DKA, ETOH, ARDS, MI, trauma, and stroke
• Patient ratios: ED 1:3–4, ICU 1:1–2 (acuity-dependent), Med/Surg 1:5 (acuity-dependent)
• Charting is done in Epic
• 12-hour variable shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Every other holiday coverage required
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved; any missed week requires a one-week contract extension
• Free parking available on-site

Requirements

• Active SD RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS
• NIHSS and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
• General ED experience and critical care experience for ICU holds required
• Trauma experience required
• Comfort and ability to work across ED, ICU, and Med/Surg settings required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers are considered only with 2+ years of RN experience
• Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler, and are subject to an internal reference check
• Orientation consists of 2 days of facility and unit training
• Unit support includes a charge nurse (hospital coordinator), phlebotomy services, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist coverage with APP support overnight
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• This facility has a strong track record of renewing travel contracts
