Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 43-bed Emergency Department at a 337-bed hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
- Patient population spans pediatric to geriatric, with common cases including stroke, acute MI, respiratory illness, behavioral health, trauma stabilization, and uncontrolled diabetes
- 8 Clinical Decision beds designated for (unlocked) Behavioral Health; 4 additional beds used for holding or FSED admissions
- Average daily census of approximately 145 patients with a 25–30% admission rate
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:3–4 based on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required across Region 2 facilities, including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding EDs within the region, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover Communication, Panda Infant Warmer, and LUCAS device
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drip management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Department is supported by HCTs/Unit Secretaries (1:8–10 ratio), paramedics, a free-floating charge nurse, patient safety attendants, a dedicated ED pharmacist (7a–11p), social worker, RT (24/7), ED physicians and APPs including a Geriatric APP, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
- Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Parking is free
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must have their permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- A clinical interview is required for this position
