Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position at a Level 3 Trauma, Maternal Fetal Medicine Referral Center hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- 13-week contract on a 12-hour night shift (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
- Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit in a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Maternal Fetal Medicine Referral Center
- Unit has 13 labor beds and 5 triage rooms, with an average daily census of 9–10 patients
- Patient population includes high-risk antepartum, active labor, triage, pre-eclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and immediate postpartum cases, averaging 60–65 deliveries per month
- RN-to-patient ratio: 1:1–2 for laboring patients
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, GE monitors, Monica Novii, and Neptune
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- No on-call responsibilities for travelers
- Holiday coverage: travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Schedule cycles every 4 weeks
- Floating is required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) within scope of practice — do not apply if not agreeable to floating
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in labor management, circulating cesarean sections, pre-op, PACU, triage, newborn resuscitation, Pitocin management, and epidural management
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following permanent employment before being eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include labor management, circulating C-sections, pre-op and PACU care, triage, newborn resuscitation, and Pitocin and epidural management
- Robust departmental support includes a charge nurse 24/7, OB Mentor, OB physicians, anesthesia/CRNA team, hospitalist and intensivist 24/7, RT 24/7, scrub tech, and phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams available in-house
- Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
- Hospital-provided green OR scrubs required
