Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position in a Cardiac Procedure Center Prep & Recovery Area, requiring Epic proficiency and hands-on experience with cardiac catheterization, EP, and vascular procedures.

- Work setting is a short-term acute care, academic teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Assignment is in the Cardiac Procedure Center Prep & Recovery Area, serving as the pre- and post-procedure unit for cardiac cath, TEE, EP, and peripheral vascular patients
- Patient ratio is 1:3
- Shifts are 12 hours (3x12), Monday through Friday, days only (6:00 AM–6:30 PM), with one close shift per week (8:00 AM–8:30 PM)
- No weekend or holiday requirements under normal scheduling
- On-call requirements may change based on unit needs; can include 1–2 on-call shifts per week or weekend
- Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
- Charting is performed in Epic; experience required
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required; candidates with a pending IL license may be considered with notation
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required, specifically in a cardiac procedure center prep and recovery setting
- Experience with cardiac catheterization, stent placement, electrophysiology procedures, and peripheral vascular procedures required
- Proficiency in sheath removal and TR band management required
- Skills required include: cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-angiogram care, port access, blood product administration, phlebotomy, peripheral line and PICC line management, IV insertion, heparin protocol management, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration of cardiac drips required)
- Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and isolation precautions required
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- Orientation modules must be completed prior to or during the start of the assignment
- Monthly parking passes are available for purchase near the facility; travelers should contact Public Safety upon arrival to discuss options
