Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0645–1915)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals is required of all travelers
- No on-call requirements
- Cerner used for charting; experience preferred
- Teaching hospital environment
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of IMC, Stepdown, PCU, DOU, or Neuro Stepdown experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted
- ACLS preferred
- Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team participation
- Cardiovascular experience required: post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR Band
- IV therapy experience required: accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
- Medication management experience required: heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
- Respiratory experience required: ventilated patient care, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
- Neurological case experience required: CVA, TBI, craniotomy, pre/post neurosurgery, and spinal cord injury
- Orthopedic experience required: ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and peripheral nerve block catheters
- Additional required skills: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, wound care/wound vac, skin grafts, surgical drains, and isolation precautions
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
Additional Information
- Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- Any previous permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Scrub color: any solid color
- Parking is available on-site at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
