Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology Clinic RN with outpatient oncology and Epic experience for a Monday–Friday day shift position in an outpatient clinic setting.
Details
- Outpatient oncology clinic setting serving Medical Oncology and Non-Malignant Hematology patients
- Triage-focused role: nurses coordinate care, triage phone calls, call patients with results, and provide patient education — no chemotherapy or infusion administration
- Assigned to 1–2 providers with responsibilities including coordination of care, patient education, and follow-up
- Caseload of approximately 20 patient visits per day across 4 rooms
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00; no weekend or on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to similar outpatient centers and clinics
- Epic EMR is required; SBAR communication framework is used
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Outpatient oncology experience is required
- Epic EMR experience is required; candidates with at least one of the two (outpatient oncology experience or Epic experience) may be considered
- Candidates must bring their own stethoscope
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable)
- OCN certification preferred
- IV insertion and chemotherapy administration experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with outpatient oncology experience are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Orientation is conducted weekly; required pre-start modules (4–5 hours for non-acute roles) must be completed annually and are delivered via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person
- Candidate must be available for a manager interview prior to offer
- Previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation
- Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are welcome but must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
