Description

American Traveler is seeking a NICU/Peds Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of critical care experience for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Details

  • Work in the Respiratory Care department of an 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center
  • NICU and pediatric patient population; adult assignments also possible based on departmental needs
  • Patient diagnoses include post-surgical, pneumonia, COPD, asthma, and ED presentations
  • EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
  • Preferred equipment experience: Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, and cough assist; HFJV and HFOV experience preferred for pediatric assignments
  • 12-hour night shifts, 18:30–07:00, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • No on-call required
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
  • No floating — assignments made based on traveler experience and unit needs

Requirements

  • Active NC Respiratory Therapist license required if applicable
  • RRT required; CRT is acceptable but not preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy critical care experience
  • Minimum 12 months of core experience in NICU/Peds specialty, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Required certifications: BLS, PALS, NRP; ACLS required for adult RT assignments
  • Previous experience in a Level 1 trauma center and/or high-acuity setting preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

  • Lead Therapists are present on each shift for both adult and pediatric areas, fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Department culture is characterized by strong teamwork and a staff with extensive tenure and experience
  • Orientation includes a hospital-wide NEO session followed by 1–2 days of departmental orientation
  • Scrub color: pewter (charcoal grey)
  • Free parking is available on site
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
