Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and willingness to float across a regional hospital network.
Details
- Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within an acute care hospital setting — 457-bed, Level 3 Trauma facility, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (including 6-week IV antibiotic therapy), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
- Average daily census of 51 patients
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); ratios may surge to 1:7–8
- EMR: Epic
- Equipment used includes GBS machine, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, doppler, telemetry monitoring, transfer devices, scales, telemedicine cart, and language interpreter devices
- 12-hour day shifts, 0700–1900
- 48 standard hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only) per regional needs and within scope of practice; candidates unwilling to float should not apply
- Travel time between facilities during a mid-shift float is compensated (traveler remains on the clock)
- 6-week scheduling cycles
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone), IV starts, blood product administration, care of patients with tubes/drains, and wound care/dressing changes
- One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates who held a permanent (staff) position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
Additional Information
- Supportive team structure includes Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, a Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Orientation consists of a NEO session plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to cover 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; if contracted hours cannot be met, time may be added to the end of the contract
- Required scrub color: Navy Blue
