Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit with required stepdown/PCU experience and acute care surgical floor background in Oklahoma City, OK.
Details
- Work in a hospital-based Surgical/Transplant unit (4W) that functions as a mixed med/surg and stepdown floor
- Cares for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation
- Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration
- Nurses are assigned to either med/surg or stepdown patients depending on staffing and acuity; ICU nurses floated to the unit work stepdown patients based on acuity and skill set
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- OR candidates will not be accepted for this position
- This is not a PACU position
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate eNLC compact license) required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Preceptor and charge nurse experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, including documentation of responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
- Administers medications, initiates and monitors IV infusions and blood products, and assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Communicates care plans to patients and families and coordinates referrals to appropriate personnel as needed
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility may reapply after a 6-month separation period following a maximum of 26 weeks (one extension) of total tenure
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must be completed promptly after accepting an offer; compliance deadlines are strictly enforced and start dates will not be pushed
