Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience with 1 year of recent ED specialty experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a 54-bed, state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center Emergency Department
• ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year across all age groups
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 for critical/trauma patients and 1:3–4 for all other patients
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR system is Meditech (experience not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL state or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license permitted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of recent Emergency Department specialty experience
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, and TNCC
• SECURE on-site certification required
• Active license must be provided for consideration — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• Current driver's license required
• Two professional references within the last year required
• NURSYS license verification required

• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
• All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
• Virtual orientation includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
• Scrub color requirement: solid navy
• Holiday coverage is required for all assigned holidays
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions
• Timekeeping system is Centricity
