Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown/PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

• IMC/Stepdown/PCU unit within a 562-bed Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0645–1915)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
• No on-call requirements
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting
• Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards are not accepted
• ACLS preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry unit monitoring, and Rapid Response Team activation
• Cardiovascular experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, sheath removal, and TR Band
• IV therapy and vascular access experience required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Medication management experience required: heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
• Neurological case experience required: CVA, craniotomy, Pre/Post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury (TBI)
• Respiratory skills required: ventilated patient care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
• Additional clinical skills required: feeding tube care, Pre/Post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Orthopedic experience required: ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and peripheral nerve block catheters
• Plastic surgery experience required: skin grafts and surgical drain management
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Cerner experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred

• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma center environment
• Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have a 12-month separation before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Any solid scrub color is acceptable
• Parking is available on-site at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
