Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position in Alaska, requiring an AK RN license and AWHONN certifications with night shift scheduling.

Details

Work in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit at a 407-bed acute care Magnet facility and USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
Patient population includes high-risk antepartum, inductions, and OB triage — averaging 7 deliveries per day with up to 14 patients on high-volume days
OB Triage averages 4–5 third-trimester testing patients plus daily triage volume
Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
Every other weekend required
Floating to like OB units may be required to meet facility needs
No on-call required
Charting is done in Epic
Block scheduling is not available
Free parking on-site
Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

Active Alaska (AK) RN license required; pending license accepted, but license must be in hand prior to offer
Candidates with a pending AK license must be able to complete the application process (including fingerprints, application fee, and submission) within 48 hours of signing
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Charge nurse experience preferred; facility is willing to train as charge
At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
SSN and DOB required for consideration
Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
RTO is approved on an individual basis and must be disclosed upfront — any scheduling requests made after submission or offer may be denied
Level II Trauma and Magnet-designated facility
