Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position in Alaska, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and an AK RN license.
Details
- 13-week assignment at a 407-bed Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma, acute care hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
- High-risk Labor & Delivery unit featuring 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
- Average of 7 deliveries per day with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases; OB Triage serves 4–5 third-trimester testing patients plus daily triage influx
- OB Triage/Testing ratio: 5–10 patients; L&D/Antepartum ratio: 7–14 patients
- 3x12-hour shifts; most likely straight nights (19:00–07:30), with possible schedule flip every 4 weeks if day coverage is needed (07:00–19:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Floating to like units within the state may be required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active Alaska RN license required; pending license accepted, but AK RN license must be in hand prior to offer — applicants must be able to complete the AK RN license application (including fingerprints, application fee, and submission) within 48 hours of signing
- Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring, and NRP
- Charge nurse experience preferred; facility is willing to train
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Parking is free
- Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- All requested time off must be disclosed upfront; RTO is approved on an individual basis and post-offer requests may be denied
