Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring Epic proficiency and a GA or compact RN license, with floating across MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units on night shifts.
Details
- Hospital-based position floating across Med/Surg, Med/Surg Telemetry, and PCU units
- Adult to geriatric patient population covering all potential MS, MS/Tele, and PCU diagnoses
- Patient ratios: 1:4–5 on PCU; 1:5–6 on MS and MS/Tele
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Floating required to all MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units within the hospital
- Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Certification documents must be provided for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them and may request 1 holiday off for approval
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- No alternate shift or special scheduling requests are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
- Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates are accepted for this position
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
