Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and IV placement skills, with night shift scheduling and self-scheduling options.

• Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 7p–7a (4x12-hour shifts), with the option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Self-scheduling format
• Every other weekend required, consisting of 2 shifts plus one day of on-site training with an educator
• Floating is not required; however, the traveler may occasionally work as a sitter or monitor tech in rare circumstances
• EMR and unit systems include Meditech (documentation), Omnicell (medication), and SBAR (communication)

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required; license pending at time of consideration is acceptable
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• IV placement skills required
• Travel nursing experience is not required

Additional Information

• Navy scrubs required
• Orientation consists of weekly orientation sessions plus one day of on-site training with a facility educator
• Approximately 8–10 hours of pre-start modules required for acute care roles; modules must also be completed annually and are delivered via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes
• Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references must be on file by start date
• Candidates who were previously employed (permanent, PRN, or extended placement) at this health system must wait 12 months before being considered for a travel position; facility rehire approval is required
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation
• Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are welcome; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
• Longer contract extensions beyond 13 weeks are possible; candidates should indicate their preference for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rate
