Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position at a Level II Trauma facility in Nebraska, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown in an acute care hospital setting with Level II Trauma designation
  • Adult and geriatric patient population including cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes management, and continuous EEG monitoring
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 with CNA/patient care tech support at a 1:10 ratio
  • RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
  • Continuous EEG monitoring is performed on this unit
  • Charge nurse present on each shift
  • 35-bed unit
  • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every third holiday required
  • No on-call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
  • Epic EMR used in this position

Requirements

  • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required — pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS — pending certifications will not be accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BSN not required
  • Driver's license required for consideration, used to verify permanent address is outside the 50-mile radius
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Fast-paced unit where success is supported by a positive attitude, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Orientation consists of first-week onboarding followed by 1–2 days of floor-specific orientation
  • A pass/fail open-book exam on unit skills is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure may result in contract termination
  • Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them may result to contract termination
  • Candidates may not currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
  • Candidates who were previously directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible
  • RTO requests (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after that point
