Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in an Emergency Observation Unit at a Level III Trauma teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

- Emergency Observation Unit in a 457-bed Level III Trauma teaching hospital, also designated as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
- Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina presentations
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Requires proficiency with general Med/Tele skills including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
- Medication drip management required, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV Pumps: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (0650–1910), 36 hours per week
- Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with every-other-weekend rotation
- Floating required within Region 1, which includes multiple facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH); candidates must be willing to float or should not apply
- No on-call or call-back requirements
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Epic EMR experience required
- One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
Additional Information
- Unit is supported by a Charge RN, Resource RN (assists with admissions/discharges), Supervisor, 24/7 Hospitalist, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, and a shared IV/VAT team
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays
- Navy scrubs are required
- Free employee parking is available
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
