Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical (Nephrology) night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center in Reno, NV, requiring a NV RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
Details
- 54-bed Medical and Nephrology unit (Sierra 6) within a large, fast-paced 800-bed hospital serving a 500-mile regional radius
- Diverse adult patient population (ages 18 through geriatric) with conditions including renal, hepatic, respiratory, cardiac, neurologic, psychiatric, and infectious diseases, as well as high volumes of cellulitis, COPD, diabetes, ETOH withdrawal, pneumonia, and sepsis
- Charting via Epic EMR; training provided during orientation or candidates may test out
- 3x12-hour night shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- One additional shift pickup required per 4-week scheduling period
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
- No on-call requirements outside of scheduled shifts
- Floating to other units may be required up to the traveler's competency level
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NV RN license required prior to start (RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may be considered and must apply immediately upon offer)
- Current BLS certification (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adult and geriatric patients and their families
- The facility operates as the only Level II Trauma Center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, treating over 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually — volume and pace are comparable to a Level I environment
- Coverage for a minimum of 2 major holidays is required
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must have a 13-week break after their last contract before returning, regardless of whether the prior assignment included extensions
- Blocked scheduling is not permitted
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and will not be made up at the end of the contract
