Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in an LDRP unit with 15 beds serving both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum patients
- Patient population includes obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, and pregnancies complicated by hypertension or diabetes
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:3 general and 1:1 for actively laboring patients
- Approximately 400 births per year
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin, Mag, and Procardia
- Charting is performed in Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts, 6pm–7am
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required based on unit need
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating is extremely rare and limited to sitting or task-only assignments in critical staffing situations
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Active BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
- Driver's license required — used to verify permanent residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 1 week of classroom training followed by 2–3 shifts of floor orientation
- A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure results in contract termination
- The unit holds Blue Distinction+ designation for patient care with high patient experience scores and is breastfeeding-friendly
- A charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result to contract termination
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; those who worked PRN through an outside staffing firm will be considered
- RTO requests of 7 days or fewer for the 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
