Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with adult, NICU, and pediatric experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment at an acute care hospital in Boise, ID.
Details
- Acute care inpatient setting covering adult floors, pediatric floors, and NICU
- RTs assigned to pediatric floors will also cover adults; RTs assigned to adult floors will not cover pediatrics
- Patient load of approximately 36–42 treatments per 12-hour shift (12–14 every 4 hours)
- EMR: Epic experience used in this position
- Equipment includes Draeger vents (adults), Servo U vents (peds), V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow (NICU/PICU), Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP, Hill-Rom Vest and Metaneb machines
- NICU assignments require experience with NAVA (Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) on Cervo vents
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage is required if the assignment falls during a holiday
- May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
- No on-call or standby call requirements
Requirements
- Current RRT credential preferred; CRT accepted with a minimum of 3–5 years of experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience required for RRT candidates
- Mandatory experience in adult, pediatric, and NICU settings
- Active state license required (pending licenses not accepted); license required if applicable
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS (adults), PALS (peds), and NRP (NICU)
- All certifications must be active; pending certifications are not accepted
- NAVA ventilation experience on Cervo vents required for NICU assignments
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing RT equipment, administering treatments, patient transport, and performing ABGs; EKGs are not performed in this role
- Travelers will assist with intubation but will not intubate independently
- Hospitalist and intensivist are available in-house 24/7
- A lead therapist is present on every shift and serves as a resource; a manager and supervisor are also available during day hours
- The department typically staffs 15–20 RTs on days and 10–12 on nights — travelers are never the sole RT on shift
- Orientation is typically 2–3 shifts: 1 shift for adult floor care, 1 shift for peds (if applicable), 1 shift in NICU (if covering), and an additional shift for adult ICU coverage if applicable
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Scrub color is flexible; any clean and professional scrubs are acceptable
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
