Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level II Neonatal ICU position requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience and the ability to attend all C-sections and deliveries.
Details
- Level II NICU located within a Women's Services unit, embedded within LDRP rooms at an acute care hospital
- 8-bed unit with private NICU suites
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
- Patient population includes neonates 32 weeks gestation and older, with common diagnoses including respiratory distress, feeders and growers, hypoglycemia, and NAS (opioid withdrawal) scoring
- NICU nurses attend all C-sections (scheduled, urgent, and emergent) and high-risk deliveries; must be able to stabilize newborns, perform 'eyes and thighs,' and complete 2-hour assessments
- CPAP is used in the NICU; patients requiring ventilators are transferred to a Level III NICU
- Continuous centralized monitoring system in use
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
- Weekends based on unit needs; no minimum weekend requirement for travelers
- No call or standby requirement
- Float requirement to all St. Luke's Treasure Valley sites (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) within NICU scope or as a sitter
Requirements
- Active Idaho RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Certifications required: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and S.T.A.B.L.E.; all must be active and non-pending
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
- Must be proficient in attending deliveries, stabilizing newborns, and assisting at C-sections
- Epic EMR experience required
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provide Level II NICU care including respiratory support, feeding and growth monitoring, hypoglycemia management, and NAS scoring
- NICU RNs may also care for a NICU baby's mother and an additional infant, reflecting the unit's integrated LDRP-NICU model
- A Neonatal NP is on-site 24/7; a Resource Nurse is available to assist with NICU admissions, C-sections, and high-risk deliveries
- CNAs support both the LDRP and NICU
- Orientation consists of 3 days on the unit; compliance and Epic Curio assignments must be completed prior to start
- Hospital-issued scrubs are required and must be changed into and out of at the beginning and end of each shift
- No fingernail lacquer, acrylic, or gel nails are permitted in the department
- Travelers are scheduled to fill open slots; scheduling preferences may be considered for subsequent contracts but block scheduling is not available
- Holidays may be required based on unit needs; no set holiday rotation for travel RNs
- Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel duos must have separate vehicles, as floating to different sites during the same shift is possible
