Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and high-volume ED/trauma experience for a day shift travel assignment at a Level 2 Trauma Center in Saint Louis, MO.
Details
- Work in a busy respiratory department at a 767-licensed-bed Level 2 Trauma Center and Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Respiratory patients across multiple units including SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma
- Pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister facility — no ongoing pediatric caseload
- Patient ratios are based on a point system and dependent on staffing
- Equipment includes Avea ventilators, LTV transport ventilator, V60 BiPAP, Bellavista (incoming), Vapotherm, and Airvo for high-flow therapy
- EMR: Epic
- Day shift, 3x12s, 06:30–19:00
- Weekend and call requirements are per facility needs
- Float requirements are per facility needs
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- RRT license, active and in good standing with the Missouri Board for Respiratory Care (license required if applicable)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in respiratory therapy
- Adult critical care experience required
- High-volume, busy ED with trauma experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
- PALS preferred
- Blood gas draw, processing on GEM, and interpretation experience preferred
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across all areas of the hospital, including critical care, cardiovascular, neurological, trauma, and emergency settings
- Strong time management skills and willingness to collaborate with fellow therapists are important for success in this role
- Black scrubs required; Mercy standard scrubs must be black
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, they must either separate from the facility for a minimum of 1 year or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
