Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position in Alaska, requiring an active Alaska RN license and PALS certification upon hire.
Details
- Emergency Department (ED) setting in a hospital environment
- Patient population spans all ages, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Variable shift schedule including days and nights
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active, full, and unrestricted Alaska RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and PALS required upon hire; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of start
- At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred, with prior ED experience preferred
- Competency with basic medical equipment (defibrillator, monitors, EKG machines, ventilators, etc.) and emergency procedures (intubation, arterial line setup, ABG puncture, etc.)
- Flu vaccination required
Additional Information
- Independently coordinates and delivers nursing care for patients of all ages across a wide range of acuity levels, including emergent situations
- Responsible for nursing assessment, care planning, documentation, patient education, and discharge instructions
- May float to other units as needed to support nursing services
- Assists in orienting new staff and travelers and may serve as a lead RN directing other RNs and CNAs during a shift
- Participates in at least 50% of departmental staff meetings and completes all annual competencies and mandatory training
- ACLS, TNCC/ATCN, and NRP certifications may be required within the first 6 months depending on specialty area needs
- Complies with facility dress code
- Start date will be no less than 5 weeks after fingerprint cards are received for processing
