Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and flexibility to float across multiple units including ICU, PCU, and MS/Tele.
Details
- Hospital-based position in a Critical Care Float role, with primary float to ICU and potential float to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, and Neuro ICU/CVICU units
- Adult to geriatric patient population across a variety of critical care and medical-surgical diagnoses
- Patient ratios: 1:2–3 (ICU), 1:4–5 (PCU), 1:5–6 (MS/MS Tele)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required (averaging 6 weekends over a 13-week contract)
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR experience required; Pyxis and SBAR also used
- Floating is required across units within the hospital
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) are highly preferred; charge nurse references are not accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum is 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two and may request one holiday off for approval
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as one)
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the listed shift is firm
- Candidates must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full calendar year before returning as a traveler
- No special scheduling requests will be considered
