Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg – Urology/Nephrology position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on a 25-bed Medical Surgical – Urology/Nephrology unit with an average daily census of 23
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to other Med/Surg units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- No on-call requirements
- Cerner EMR used; experience required
- Specialized skills used include telemetry/remote monitoring, Rapid Response Team protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and wound care/wound vac
- IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Heparin administration experience required
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted
- BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
- Med/Surg or MS/Tele work setting experience required
- Experience with telemetry remote monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams required
- Genitourinary/renal case experience required, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
- Cerner EMR experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- First-time travelers are welcome; candidates should demonstrate a solid Med/Surg foundation with 2+ years of experience
- Any former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO requests ideally should not exceed 5 days for the assignment; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius requirement
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
