Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit position requiring telemetry strip reading ability and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.

Details

• Located in an acute care hospital with a Level 1 Trauma designation
• 7 West is a combined Stepdown and Floor unit with 32 total beds (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
• Stepdown patient ratio is 1:3; Floor patient ratio is 1:4-6
• Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, and GIP hospice
• Stepdown patients may have titratable drips; floor patients receive PCAs, heparin, and similar set-rate infusions
• Telemetry is present on the unit; RNs must read strips in conjunction with telemetry monitor techs
• Charting is done in Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 2 weekends required per schedule
• Holiday coverage integrated into the permanent staff holiday schedule
• Floating to any floor or stepdown unit is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Ability to read telemetry strips required
• Driver's license with an address more than 50 miles from the facility required
• COVID vaccination required (2-dose Moderna or Pfizer series, or single-dose J&J); medical or religious exemptions may be requested

Additional Information

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Unit is staffed with a dedicated charge nurse and a House Supervisor is always available
• Nurse aides are present on the unit (4 when fully staffed for 32 beds)
• Respiratory therapy manages ventilator, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
• Candidates must provide 2 professional references (at least 1 supervisor reference) and a skills checklist completed within the past year
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being eligible to return
• Candidates who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative year or more must take a 2-year break before returning
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
