Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and strong medical ICU background.
Details
- Mixed ICU unit within a 388-bed Level 3 Trauma Center with 18 ICU beds
- Medical ICU cases include DKA, DTs, multisystem failure, ARDS, CIWA/EtOH, sepsis, pneumonia, and COVID
- Surgical ICU cases include open abdomen and thoracotomies
- Neuro/trauma ICU cases (rare) include CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, craniotomy/craniectomy, EVDs, and ICP monitoring
- CVICU cases include CABG/TAVR (24–48 hr post-op), fem-pop bypass, and AAA repair
- Travelers are not expected to manage CRRT, Impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO
- Patient ratios: 1:2–3 based on acuity
- Charting via Epic; equipment includes BD Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
- 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
- Shifts will be clustered together when possible
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating may be required to the Respiratory Unit (Medical Floor), Surgical, Tele, PCU, or ED in a Helping Hands capacity
Requirements
- Active WA state or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- Strong medical ICU background preferred over CV/surgical experience
- Required skills: cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol knowledge, chest tube and drain management, and invasive line monitoring (A-lines, CVP)
- Epic EMR experience required
- One supervisor-level reference required for consideration; a second required prior to start (charge nurse, manager, director, or above)
