Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position at a Level III Trauma facility in Florence, AL, requiring 5 years of critical care experience and AHA certifications.

Details

  • Position is based in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on the Critical Care Services floor of a Level III Trauma facility
  • Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, CABGs, and vascular procedures
  • CCU patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:3; CVICU is 1:2 or 1:3; Critical Care Step-Down (CCSD) is 1:4 or 1:5; Med-Surg is 1:6
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float requirements include CVICU overflow, Critical Care Step-Down (CCSD), and Med-Surg; travelers float first to CVICU or CCSD, and to Med-Surg only when critical care areas are fully staffed
  • Equipment includes SpaceLabs bedside monitoring with continuous ECG, O2, respiratory, BP, CVP, and PA monitoring; Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps; Kangaroo feeding pumps; Hill-Rom critical care beds; ventilators (variety); Prismaflex CRRT machines; Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps; Blanketrols; Arctic Sun; Rapid-Transfusion; fluid warming; and Zoll monitoring
  • EMR: Meditech (clinical access for ICU patients)

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 5 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in IV starts and blood draws, NG tube placements, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation, critical care drips and titrations, ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines including large-volume Vas Caths
  • Ability to assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
  • Smartphone required for physician communication via TigerConnect app
  • Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Candidate must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
  • Candidate must not be employed full-time elsewhere

Additional Information

  • Preferred experience includes prior work in a high-acuity teaching hospital with resident physicians, managing advanced skills such as CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls
  • Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg is preferred
  • Required scrub color is royal blue; tops such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, or vests must be solid, neutral-colored, or display the facility logo
