Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position specializing in bone marrow transplant care, requiring at least 1 year of MS and oncology experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Mixed acuity PCU and Med/Surg unit within a bone marrow transplant (BMT) setting
- Patient population includes hematologic malignancies such as ALL, AML, CLL, CML, Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia, and Myeloproliferative Disorders
- Specialized procedures include autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as CAR-T therapy
- Telemetry monitoring is performed on the unit, including interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Scheduled for nights (7p–7:30a, 3x12-hour shifts), though rotating day/night contracts may result in day, night, or combination scheduling based on departmental needs
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Local candidates are accepted
Requirements
- Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred (not required)
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg and oncology nursing experience required
- Hematology/oncology (Heme Onc) experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Epic EMR required
- Required clinical skills include: MS/Tele monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, use of Rapid Response Teams, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral and PICC line management, and nasal cannula administration
- Two professional references required: at least 1 from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as a second reference — no co-worker references accepted
Additional Information
- Provides nursing care to oncology patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and CAR-T therapy in a mixed-acuity BMT unit
- Chemo certification is not required for this position
- Former facility employees are eligible to apply after a 6-month separation from the facility
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and will be built into the contract, with a limit of 7 days or less
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting an offer — candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet for urgent completion
- Parking is available on campus through CampusParc, with multiple permit options at varying price points

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
